Story

Synopsis

After their mother dies, two long-estranged sisters reunite in their rural home. Amidst foggy mornings, old objects, and unfinished conversations, they attempt to rebuild their relationship, discovering the truth about their mother and each other.

About

This story was born out of a deep personal fascination with human relationships, memory, and the unspoken emotions that shape our lives. I’ve always been drawn to the idea of how the past lingers in the present—how grief, love, and guilt intertwine in ways we don’t always recognize.

In particular, I was inspired by the way family dynamics shift after loss.

The idea of two sisters, who grew up in the same home yet carry completely different versions of their mother, felt like a powerful way to explore identity and emotional inheritance. I wanted to capture those quiet, in-between moments—glances, silences, half-finished sentences—that often hold more weight than grand gestures.

Visually, I was also inspired by the landscapes of rural Poland. There’s something poetic about nature as a silent witness to our inner lives—morning mists, the way light moves through an old house, the rhythmic sound of a horse’s breath. These elements helped shape the film’s tone, making it feel almost like a dream or a memory unfolding on screen.
